When school isn't the right environment — or isn't currently possible — a qualified tutor can meet your child where they are. Here's what to expect from us, and how the process works.

What tuition looks like

A calm session, in a room your child already knows.

Most sessions happen at your kitchen table, in a bedroom, or wherever your child feels most regulated. A typical week is between three and fifteen hours, depending on what's set out in the EHCP.

Your tutor arrives with everything they need. You don't need to prepare resources, teach alongside, or entertain siblings. Many parents use the time to work, rest, or take a walk.

For some children, we begin with very short sessions — sometimes fifteen minutes — building up as trust and stamina grow.

The EHCP journey

Where we sit in your child's plan.

  1. 01
    Your local authority contacts us
    Because your child has an EHCP that names 1:1 tuition (Section F), your LA case worker sends us a referral. You do not have to fund anything.
  2. 02
    A Case Manager calls you
    Within one working day, a named Case Manager phones you to understand your child — beyond the paperwork — and answer any questions.
  3. 03
    We propose two or three tutors
    You'll see short profiles: qualifications, specialisms, and a written introduction. You choose.
  4. 04
    Meet-the-family visit
    The chosen tutor visits for a relaxed, unpaid introductory session. If it doesn't feel right, you tell us — and we shortlist again.
  5. 05
    Tuition begins
    Sessions start against an agreed timetable. Your Case Manager stays in touch weekly at first, then monthly.
  6. 06
    Termly review
    We report on progress against the outcomes in your child's plan and contribute to the annual review.

Does my child need an EHCP?
Ordinarily yes — because we work through local authorities to deliver Section F provision. If your child is in the assessment process, or unable to attend school on medical grounds, your LA can still commission us under Section 19 of the Education Act 1996.
Will the same tutor come every week?
Yes. Consistency is one of the strongest predictors of progress for children with SEND, and we do not rotate tutors. If the fit isn't right, we replace — we do not rotate.
Do I need to be in the room?
You need to be in the home, but not in the room. Most tutors work in a shared living space with the door open. What works for your child leads.
What if my child refuses a session?
This is expected, especially early on. Our tutors are trained in low-arousal approaches and PDA-informed practice — a refusal is not a failure, it's information. We adjust and try again.
How is my child's information protected?
We are registered with the ICO and comply with UK GDPR. Files are encrypted, shared only with those who need them, and destroyed on the schedule set by our retention policy.
